Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas has suspended Carlton Bragg Jr. after a misdemeanor battery charge was levied against the sophomore forward Friday.

The Douglas County District Attorney's office told the Kansas City Star that Bragg allegedly hit his girlfriend during an argument and pushed her down the stairs.

Jayhawks head coach Bill Self told the Star that the school has suspended Bragg from games "as we continue to gather facts."

"Carlton and I have spoken," Self said in a release. "He certainly understands the circumstances surrounding this issue. We are taking this charge very seriously."

The charge that Bragg has been hit with comes with a possible punishment of a fine or up to six months of jail time.

Bragg is averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Jayhawks, who are in action next on Saturday against Nebraska.
