Report: D-Backs open to discussing Miller, Corbin
The Arizona Diamondbacks might prove to be sellers at this week's winter meetings.
After acquiring right-hander Taijuan Walker from the Seattle Mariners, the D-Backs have a slew of starting pitching, with the team open to discussing trade options for Shelby Miller and Patrick Corbin, sources told azcentral's Nick Piecoro.
That being said, some general managers believe Arizona isn't ready to pull the trigger on either of them yet since the new front office is still fairly new.
“I think they’re hesitant to deal any of them because they haven’t had the time to evaluate and know exactly what they have,” one source said about the Diamondbacks’ new front office.
As of now, Arizona has the ability to start Zack Greinke, Walker, Miller, Corbin, Robbie Ray, Archie Bradley, and Braden Shipley.
Not only that, but prospects Matt Koch and Anthony Banda are also hanging in the balance, and are expected to crack the majors in 2017.
Late in the 2016 season, the Diamondbacks moved Corbin to the bullpen, months after it was revealed the left-hander was struggling with endurance issues.
He finished the season with a rough 5-13 record, owning a career-worst 5.15 ERA over 155 2/3 innings.
As much as Corbin struggled, Miller was even worse, going 3-12 with a 6.15 ERA in 101 innings before being sent to Triple-A Reno.
