Manchester City could face UEFA sanctions after crowd fighting

Manchester City could be in danger of more sanctions during a week in which punishment has been the comprehensive theme at the Etihad.

The club could face UEFA's wrath after Tuesday's 1-1 draw against Celtic was marred by crowd trouble; rival fans clashed in the latter stages of the contest, before a swarm of security personnel were sent to stop the altercations.

Per the Guardian:

The trouble occurred in the lower tier of the home section closest to Celtic’s fans and is likely to prompt an investigation by European football’s governing body, who last season fined Manchester United £44,342 and Liverpool £43,577 for disturbances during their Europa League meeting at Old Trafford.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed after the contest that 14 people had been arrested, including a Celtic fan who, incredibly, threw a hamburger at a police horse.

The news comes in the wake of domestic bans for both Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho, who were suspended four and three matches, respectively, for their roles in the touchline fracas against Chelsea this past weekend.

The club has also been sanctioned in past seasons by UEFA for its fans booing the Champions League anthem.
