Watch: Lapadula's AC Milan legend grows, in 3 acts

Reuters

Sunday's match against Crotone is not one that AC Milan forward Gianluca Lapadula will soon forget.

The Italian attacker had a certain goal denied by his own hand against the Calabrian minnow at the San Siro after Ignazio Abate's diving header left Lapadula with little to do.

Matters went from bad to worse for Lapadula and Co. after the striker drew a penalty in the 52nd minute. As the Italian attacker stepped up to take the spot kick, he and M'Baye Niang feuded over who would have the honours.

Lapadula conceded, the wiry winger grabbed the ball, and spoiler alert ...

... Niang was denied by an acrobatic effort from Crotone shot-stopper Alex Cordaz.

There was a ray of light buried between the Milanese clouds however, with Lapadula banging in his fourth goal in four matches to hand the host a late lead in the 86th minute. Job done.

With the last-gasp victory, Milan keeps pace with table-topping Juventus, and after 15 Serie A matches, is four points adrift of the five-time defending Scudetto champ.
