Colorado AD expects MacIntyre to stay put

Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre is viewed as one of the top candidates to take a new job next season, but his athletic director doesn't expect him to go anywhere.

Rick George, Colorado's AD, said he "absolutely" expects MacIntyre to be the Buffaloes' head coach for the 2017 season, according to ESPN's Kyle Bonagura.

"Look, Mike has had a great year, and it's not just Mike. It's he and his coaching staff," George said. "They've done a great job, and you would expect his name to pop up in a lot of different areas because of the success he's had, and I think that's a great compliment to what they've done. Beyond that, Mike and I will talk, like we always do, after the regular season is over, which ends Friday night."

Colorado sits at No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings with a 10-2 record, and will face Washington in the Pac-12 title game Friday night. The Buffaloes have won eight conference games this season after winning a total of five combined in the previous five seasons after they joined the Pac-12 in 2011.

For that terrific turnaround, MacIntyre was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. He has two years remaining on his contract, but George will let the Buffaloes play out the season before he and MacIntyre discuss a possible extension.

"When he's in his season we talk, but we don't talk about those kinds of things during the season," George said. "We wait until the season is over."
