Report: Marlins have signaled willingness to trade Ramos

The Miami Marlins may be contemplating trading away their All-Star closer.

After reports surfaced earlier this month that the club was considering overhauling their bullpen by making a run at free-agent reliever Kenley Jansen, the Marlins have reportedly signaled they are willing to trade their incumbent closer A.J. Ramos, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.

Ramos has served as the ninth-inning arm for the Marlins for the past two seasons. The right-hander converted 40 out of his 43 save opportunities in 2016 - good for a 93-percent save percentage - though his performances may have priced himself out of Miami's plans for the near future. He's projected to earn a pricey $6.8 million in arbitration this winter, according to MLB Trade Rumors, and the club may opt to employ one of the top bullpen arms on the market, like Jansen, instead.

Ramos appeared in 67 games for Miami this past season, crafting a 2.81 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. He was named to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career in July.
