Although Yasiel Puig has gone to great lengths to drastically improve his standing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, it isn't a guarantee that the Cuban outfielder remains in the team's plans going forward.

After almost shipping Puig to the Milwaukee Brewers in the summer, the Dodgers remain open to trading him this winter, rival executives told Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times.

Puig's had a roller coaster four-year run with the Dodgers since signing a seven-year, $42-million deal in 2012. He hit .305/.386/.502 with 35 home runs, 58 doubles, and 11 triples over his first two seasons before things went down hill in 2015. He's been limited to only 183 games over the past two seasons due to injuries, attitude issues, and an inconsistency that eventually landed him in the minors for nearly a month this summer.

YEAR GP 2B 3B HR SB AVG/OBP/SLG
2013 104 21 2 19 11 .319/.391/.534
2014 148 37 9 16 11 .296/.382/.480
2015 79 12 3 11 3 .255/.322/.436
2016 104 14 2 11 5 .263/.323/.416

Puig did return from his demotion in early September saying that it had taught him some humility. Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi even stated last month that Puig and the club were in a "much better place," before adding that the team has a surplus of outfielders which could open the door for a move.

Owed just $17 million over the next two years and entering his age 26 season, Puig is an attractive piece for teams willing to roll the dice.
