Dani Alves diagnosed with fractured fibula, Bonucci has thigh strain

Juventus announced Sunday that right-back Dani Alves suffered a compound fracture of the fibula in his left leg during a 3-1 loss to Genoa, while fellow defender Leonardo Bonucci strained a flexor muscle in his thigh during the contest.

No timetable was provided for either player's potential return.

Both men were involved in the unexpected loss to Genoa, but Alves managed to play for the majority of the 90 minutes as his injury came late in the match.

Bonucci lasted all of 33 minutes before being replaced by Daniele Rugani.

Without Bonucci anchoring the defense, the Serie A champion suffered its third defeat of the domestic season, having previously lost to both AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The Bianconeri remain first in the league table with 33 points, four more than second-placed AC Milan.

Juventus will miss both defenders, however, as Alves has made 13 appearances for the club in all competitions while Bonucci has recorded 22 appearances, scoring three goals.
