Russell Westbrook messed around and caught The King.

The inexhaustible human combustion engine that is Westbrook recorded his 44th career triple-double Saturday to tie LeBron James for sixth-most in NBA history.

Westbrook, who is four years younger than James, managed the feat in 395 fewer games.

His 17-point, 13-rebound, 15-assists outing in Saturday's win over the Detroit Pistons comes on the heels of a stupendous 36-point, 12-rebound, 18-assist effort during an exhausting overtime victory Friday over the Denver Nuggets. How he managed to be that productive in both games of a back-to-back is baffling.

Westbrook already has seven triple-doubles through 18 games played. At this rate, he would finish the season with nearly 32.
