Pistons' Stanley Johnson suspended 1 game for violating team rules

Tim Fuller / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Pistons suspended sophomore swingman Stanley Johnson one game for a violation of team rules, head coach Stan Van Gundy said Friday, according to Keith Langlois from pistons.com.

It's just the latest episode in what's been a trying season for the 20-year-old, who's averaging just 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds in 16 minutes - all down from his rookie campaign.

The 2015 lottery pick's production has been especially underwhelming considering the promise he showed over the summer, when he thrived in summer league, Drew League, Drake's OVO League, and as a member of USA Basketball's select team.

Johnson has struggled, especially at the offensive end, to the point he received a DNP-CD on Saturday.

He'll miss Friday's matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.
