Report: Strong could save job with blowout win over TCU

Add another development to the Charlie Strong saga at Texas, after a source told Brian Davis of the Austin American Statesman that the embattled coach could save his job with a blowout win over TCU on Friday.

It's been widely reported that Strong will be fired after this season, regardless of the result versus the Horned Frogs, and despite a possible bowl game.

Strong told reporters during his Monday press conference that he believed no decision on his future would be made until after Friday's game, and that beating TCU would help his cause.

However, his fate seemed all but sealed after last weekend's stunning loss to Kansas, as the Jayhawks beat Texas for the first time since 1938. If Strong indeed keeps his job, it would be a situation similar to what happened with Les Miles and LSU last season.

In that case, the decision to fire Miles had reportedly been made before the Tigers' season finale against Texas A&M, but following LSU's win, the administration decided to bring Miles back for 2016.

That stay of execution would be short-lived however, as Miles was fired four games into this season after starting 2-2.
