SMU's Morris: I haven't been contacted by Baylor

As rumors swirl that Chad Morris could be the next head coach at Baylor, the SMU bench boss said Tuesday he's had zero communication with the Big 12 school.

"As far as Baylor, I haven't been contacted by them," Morris told reporters, according to Bill Nichols of the Dallas Morning News.

Morris, who's in his second year with the Mustangs and is leading a well-recognized turnaround in Dallas, has been heavily linked to the Baylor job over the past week.

In fact, the speculation has grown so much, Morris has apparently felt compelled to address the buzz with his team.

"Every year this time, something comes up, somebody's mentioning you for this job," Morris added. "You're leaving either way. You're either getting fired because you didn't win enough games, or you're leaving because you've won too many games ... That's just the way this business is this time of year."

The 47-year-old would be a logical candidate for Baylor given his Texas roots, subsequent knowledge of the state's recruiting base, and his work at SMU.

After taking over a program glued to the basement of the American Athletic Conference and posting a 2-10 record last year, Morris has guided the Mustangs to a respectable 5-6 mark this season.
