Romero hints at title shot, plans 'retirement party' for Bisping

Adam Hunger / USA TODAY

Yoel Romero doesn't just want the middleweight title. He wants to end Michael Bisping's career.

On Tuesday, the "Soldier of God" tweeted that he's heard rumors of a championship bout between himself and Bisping for UFC 208 on Jan. 21 in Anaheim, Calif. He also mentioned that he's looking forward to "hosting a retirement party" for Bisping, a veteran of 27 UFC bouts:

At 39 years old, Romero is actually two years older than Bisping, but he's a late starter in MMA who has emerged as a top-three contender at 185 pounds. After defeating Chris Weidman at UFC 205, the Cuban wrestler called out Bisping, who was at Madison Square Garden for the event, and the champ replied with a one-finger salute.

Currently, UFC 208 does not have any official bouts scheduled. A Bisping title defense in Anaheim could make sense, given the time needed for him to recover from a win over Dan Henderson this past October and the fact that he resides in Orange County.
