Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah will visit a specialist this week to determine if he can resume practicing, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
On injured reserve since Sept. 21 with a foot injury, Abdullah will visit Dr. Robert Anderson, perhaps the second most famous (and feared) doctor in the NFL behind Dr. James Andrews.
Abdullah's foot will be examined to determine if he can resume practicing, Rapoport reports, adding that the earliest Abdullah can realistically hope to play is in three weeks.
With Abdullah sidelined, the Lions rank in the bottom 10 in the NFL in rushing.
