Watch: Ronaldo bags trio against Atletico to set Madrid derby record
Cristiano Ronaldo's third goal Saturday in the Madrid derby against rival Atletico put the Euro 2016 winner in a class of his own.
The trio of goals gives Ronaldo 18 tallies in the Spanish capital derby for Real Madrid, vaulting him above Los Blancos legend Alfredo Di Stefano.
After drawing a penalty courtesy of a daft bit of defending from Stefan Savic, Ronaldo stepped up to the spot to bury his seventh league goal of the campaign and draw level with Di Stefano.
Ronaldo didn't have to wait long to make the record his own, slotting home with ease six minutes later courtesy of a deft pass from Gareth Bale. The 31-year old attacker now has hat tricks in his last two La Liga away matches against Atletico and Alaves.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 39 hat-tricks for Real Madrid across all competitions.
