Stanford band not allowed to attend Big Game

Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

If the Stanford marching band had any hope of being able to attend the annual Big Game against Cal, those wishes were put to bed Wednesday evening, as the university said the band hasn't fully resolved the issues that led to its indefinite suspension from traveling, according to Robert Handa and Stephen Ellison of NBC Bay Area.

The Stanford band currently isn't allowed to play at any away games due to past sexually explicit acts, hazing, and other offensive behavior, along with violations involving alcohol and controlled substances.

The travel ban's been in place since May 2015, but the band received an exception for the Rose Bowl last season. The university will not do the same for the rivalry against the Golden Bears, as last year's contest was at Stanford.
