Real Salt Lake veteran defender Jamison Olave announced Monday his time with the club has come to a close, taking to Twitter to bring an end to a seven-year career with the team.

"After 7 years playing and defending the RSL jersey, my cycle as a player with RSL ended," Olave wrote in a letter shared on social media. "Thank you to the fans for all the support during all this time, to my teammates for making history together, and for giving their best in the field to make RSL BIG. Thank you to RSL for letting me enjoy a great city and a great team."

The 35-year-old Colombian defender first joined the club in 2008 and helped secure the 2009 MLS Cup in a penalty shootout victory over the LA Galaxy at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

In 2013, Olave was traded to the New York Red Bulls, where he went on to make 63 appearances in league and playoff action, scoring four goals.

He then returned to Real Salt Lake in 2015 where he has added two more years to his time at Rio Tinto Stadium. With RSL, Olave has made 152 total appearances, scoring 13 goals, and recording four assists.

Olave was named MLS Defender of the Year in 2010, and was named to the league's All-Star team and Best XI in 2010 and 2011 as well.
