Report: NFL investigators view Elliott as 'Public Enemy No. 1'

The latest accusations against Ezekiel Elliott appear to have made him even more of a priority for NFL investigators.

As the league now looks into a February altercation with the same woman who accused him of domestic violence over the summer, the Dallas Cowboys running back is viewed as "Public Enemy No. 1" for the NFL, a person in Elliott's camp told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Elliott wasn't charged in connection with the initial claims, and reports indicated he had proof his ex-girlfriend had threatened to ruin him, but the NFL's investigation remained ongoing throughout.

The police report from the February incident in question includes an allegation that Elliott pushed the woman against a wall and hurt her shoulder.

While it's unclear whether the investigation into either accusation will lead to any sort of discipline, Schefter's report cites a source indicating that the league wants to make sure there are "zero mistakes" in this process.

Such errors when dealing with the cases of Ray Rice and Josh Brown, of course, brought the NFL under intense public scrutiny before each player was subject to more significant punishments after the fact.
