Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was forced to leave Thursday's World Cup qualifier against Colombia on 64 minutes after suffering an apparent leg injury.

He appeared to pick up the problem early in the match, and re-aggravated it while making a tackle in the penalty area later in the second half.

Despite causing multiple delays, Bravo continued to favour his knee and eventually called for a substitution.

Johnny Herrera replaced Bravo in goal.

It's an alarming development for both Chile and Manchester City, which spent a reported £17 million to acquire the 33-year-old from Barcelona last summer.

He's since had a difficult start to his career in England, making several errors and picking up a red card against his former club in Champions League play.

Any extended absence would hand City's No. 1 duties to Willy Caballero.

How it affects Chile's World Cup campaign remains to be seen. La Roja hosts Uruguay on Tuesday as it looks to come out of the international break in a qualifying position.

Thursday's match ended goalless, leaving Chile in fifth place.
