Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Jared Odrick wasn't willing to discuss his feelings on Tuesday's presidential election, but he was happy about one development: The state of Florida legalized the use of medical marijuana.

"I'd like to congratulate Florida on taking a step in the right direction," Odrick said, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. "There are going to be a lot of medical conditions that can be assisted by what they voted for."

The amendment earned 71 percent of the vote, far surpassing the minimum necessary. The bill allows for cancer, AIDS, epilepsy, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder, Crohn's disease, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis to be treated through prescribed marijuana.

Odrick called on the NFL to make a similar move.

"I'm hoping and I'm wondering when the NFL wants to be a leader in taking the right steps and leading a social movement," Odrick said.

"We can enter a stadium where Bud Light is being promoted in your face and (fans can watch the game) in the Bud Light Zone. We can push alcohol but we can't push something that's being prescribed medically?"
