Noah Syndergaard, who established himself as the New York Mets' undisputed ace this season, decided not to make a big fuss about the fact that he wasn't among the three finalists announced Monday for the 2016 National League Cy Young award.

Instead, the 24-year-old right-hander let Dwight Schrute - assistant to the regional manager at Dunder Mifflin on NBC's "The Office" - protest (or emote, at least) on his behalf.

Dwight may have a point. Though Syndergaard, in his first full season with the Mets, didn't log as many innings as any of the three finalists, he still led the NL in WAR (6.5) and home runs per nine innings (0.54) while finishing sixth, albeit below both Kyle Hendricks and Max Scherzer, in soft-contact rate (21 percent).

Name WAR ERA WHIP K% HR/9 IP
Noah Syndergaard 6.5 2.60 1.15 29.3% 0.54 183.2
Max Scherzer 5.6 2.96 0.97 31.5% 1.22 228.1
Kyle Hendricks 4.5 2.15 0.98 22.8% 0.71 188.0
Jon Lester 4.3 2.44 1.02 24.8% 0.93 202.2
