Pickford, Cresswell replace Forster, Drinkwater in England squad

England manager Gareth Southgate announced a pair of changes to his 25-man squad Monday for upcoming international matches against Scotland in World Cup qualifying and a friendly against Spain.

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and West Ham left full-back Aaron Cresswell replace Southampton shot-stopper Fraser Forster and Leicester City midfielder Daniel Drinkwater, who withdrew from the squad due to injuries.

Cresswell has yet to receive an international cap for England. The 26-year-old is enjoying his third season at West Ham after coming off a knee ligament injury sustained in July.

Pickford, too, has yet to receive a senior cap for the Three Lions, though he's made appearances for England across multiple youth team ranks. He received his first call-up Oct. 9, replacing Tom Heaton for a World Cup qualifying match against Slovenia, but did not make an appearance.
