Draymond says he gets techs for showing emotion

Draymond Green finished third in the NBA in technical fouls last season, and he's already earned two just five games into the 2016-17 campaign, tying him for the league lead.

The Golden State Warriors forward can be volatile and hot-headed, but he insists that the technicals he's getting hit with these days are for nothing more than showing excitement after making big plays.

"I got two techs this year for yelling, 'Ahhh'?" Green told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears, after getting hit with his second T during the Warriors' win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. (He said he'd just been celebrating a dunk by teammate Kevin Durant.) "At this point, do I need to wear a mask? Am I allowed to show emotion on the floor? That's who I am. I play with emotion.

Green also received a tech for a similar offense in the Warriors' season-opening loss to the San Antonio Spurs. He says he's put his penchant for yapping at officials behind him, but feels those officials see him only for how he used to behave.

"I think I've gotten a reputation for arguing calls," he said. "That's what I got techs for (last season). I understand that. Now I don't argue calls, so why am I getting techs for yelling?"

Green, who was suspended for an NBA Finals game this past spring after exceeding the playoff threshold for accumulated flagrant-foul points, said he hopes Warriors general manager Bob Myers will call the NBA on his behalf to try to have both technicals rescinded.

"I look forward to getting an explanation on the first and the second one," Green said. "You can't yell after a good play? So I'm looking for an explanation for both. I think they both should get rescinded. They said I was disrespecting the referees.

"All right, I'm not talking to them no more. But now you want to give me a tech for yells? It's not like I'm standing in someone's face yelling."
