Pelicans' Hill: 'Nobody is going to turn into Kobe on this team'

The New Orleans Pelicans are not a great team, and forward Solomon Hill knows it.

The Pels dropped their third straight to start the season Saturday, a 98-79 schooling by the San Antonio Spurs.

Beyond Anthony Davis, the fact is there isn't much offensively to talk about on this team, especially with Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans still shelved. After Saturday's loss, the veteran Hill got candid with media on the team needing to embrace more of a defensive identity.

"When (the Pelicans) made the playoffs, we had Eric Gordon, a guy with the Clippers who had 15 shots a game," Hill - who signed with New Orleans in July - said, according to ESPN's Justin Verrier. "We had Ryan Anderson, who's one of the better pick-and-pop fours ... we don't have that.

"So we have to do the little things. Nobody is going to turn into Kobe on this team. We have to respect our roles and identities," he added. "Every night we have to be hungry. Shit's not just going to happen for us. We've got to make it happen. And that needs to be our identity."
