Warriors' McCaw sprains ankle vs. Pelicans, X-rays negative

Golden State Warriors rookie Patrick McCaw did not return in Friday's contest versus the New Orleans Pelicans after suffering a sprained ankle, the team announced.

X-rays taken on McCaw after the game were negative.

Drafted with the 38th pick in the 2016 Draft, McCaw showed promise this preseason, averaging 8.4 points, 2.1 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 20.1 minutes per game.

Despite his lack of experience, McCaw figures to see plenty of action for the Warriors this season, playing 10 minutes on Friday before exiting in the second quarter.

With McCaw out, Ian Clark is a strong candidate to replace him in the rotation.
