Dwyane Wade's regular season debut at home as a member of the Chicago Bulls will be remembered for another reason now.

Wade was fined $25,000 by the NBA for an inappropriate gesture late in Chicago's 105-99 win over the Boston Celtics Thursday.

After hitting the game-sealing three with 26 seconds remaining, Wade enacted a throat-slash gesture. He apologized for it on Friday, saying he was caught up in the emotion of the moment.

The NBA has been quick to discipline gestures that imply acts of violence in the past. Last season, Wade's then-Miami Heat teammate Gerald Green was fined the same amount - $25,000 - for displaying finger guns in a preseason game.
