Colorado becomes bowl eligible for first time since 2007
It has been just shy of a decade since Colorado fans last experienced their team going to a bowl game, but those dreams will now become a reality as the Buffaloes have reached the magic number of six wins needed to become bowl eligible.
With Colorado's 10-5 win over Stanford on Saturday, the Buffaloes are 6-2 on the season, and will be looking to go bowling for the first time since 2007.
The Buffaloes' four Pac-12 wins so far this season are just one less than Colorado had since it moved to the conference from the Big 12 in 2011 combined. As well, the six wins overall are the programs most since that last bowl eligible season, when it finished 6-7 and lost in the Independence Bowl.
So, since it's been nine years, here is a look back at what was making headlines in 2007.
'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' was the No. 1 movie at the box office

Taking in $963,420,425, the third installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean series was the box office leader in 2007, just beating out Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Who would have known that the title 'At World's End' would coincide with the end of the Buffaloes bowl appearances for years to come.
Beyonce's 'Irreplaceable' was No. 1 on Billboard charts

After releasing her second solo album "B'Day", Beyonce's third single "Irreplaceable" topped the Billboard 100 list for 2007, and even though Beyonce said she's irreplaceable, in college football everything is replaceable. Colorado's 18 bowl game appearances in 22 years turned into zero bowl games in the nine following, proving again no one can touch Queen B.
Barry Bonds breaks career home run record - gets indicted

Barry Bonds crushed his 756th home run of his career in August 2007, moving him past Hank Aaron's former MLB record and earning the title 'Home Run King'. However, in November Bonds was indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice after he admitted to using steroids, but denied he knew they were performance-enhancing drugs. Bonds stood trial and was convicted of one felony count of obstruction of justice, but the ruling was later overturned on appeal.
