Arizona State AD: Leach's signal-stealing allegations 'irresponsible'

Arizona State is firing back at Mike Leach, after the Washington State coach accused the Sun Devils of stealing signs from opponents during games.

In a statement released Friday, Arizona State athletic director Ray Anderson applauded Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott for fining Leach $10,000 in wake of his controversial remarks, and put the coach on blast:

I fully support the Pacific-12 Conference Office and Commissioner Larry Scott's decision on this matter, Our professional integrity was questioned for two straight years by Mike Leach's irresponsible comments and we will now allow that to happen. We are pleased with the outcome and for us the matter is closed.

Leach said Monday he believes the Sun Devils have a "very unsavory practice" of stealing signs, and added they have "a whole command center."

It's the second straight year Leach has levied such claims against Arizona State.

Arizona State is set host Washington State on Saturday night.
