Barcelona's Jeremy Mathieu: Sent off in win over Manchester City

Mathieu was sent off in the 73rd minute of Wednesday's Champions League match versus Manchester City.

Analysis:

The defender entered the match in the 39th minute for Gerard Pique (ankle) and was shown the exit after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession in the second half. Mathieu will miss the next group stage match on Nov. 1 against the Citizens, which could force Javier Mascherano back into a central role, as Pique is expected to sit out.
