Clemson coach Dabo Swinney told reporters Wednesday he expects running back Wayne Gallman, who is recovering from a concussion, to be ready for the Florida State game on Oct. 29.

The Tigers are on a bye this week after barely clawing past NC State in overtime last Saturday. Gallman exited that contest in the first quarter with a head injury, which the team later confirmed was a concussion.

"He's just a great football player," Swinney said of Gallman during a conference call involving ACC coaches. "He's our leader at that position, and we really like our other players but we don't have a lot of experience there. Here's a guy who's played in a lot of big games and has been our workhorse so it (was) definitely a loss for us."

Clemson's offense looked lost without its star runner in the backfield. Sophomore C.J. Fuller received the bulk of the carries in his absence and finished the day with 56 yards.

Gallman, a junior, has racked up 489 yards and five touchdowns on the ground for the season.

Clemson's matchup with Florida State is largely considered one of the biggest games left on the college football regular-season schedule.
