Here are the key news and notes for Wednesday, October 19:

Packers' new-look backfield taking shape

Aside from trading for RB Knile Davis from the Chiefs, practice squad member Don Jackson is expected to be promoted to the active roster on Wednesday, according to a source close to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein. Both Eddie Lacy and James Starks will be out for multiple games, meaning that the Packers will go with a makeshift backfield starting with Thursday's game against Chicago.

Fantasy Impact: WR Ty Montgomery served as a de facto RB on Sunday, carrying three times and catching 10 passes for 98 yards. Jackson, who has the advantage of knowing the team's offense, and Davis should also be in the mix. Montgomery, even if out of position, is the best source of fantasy points in the Green Bay backfield. All those checkdowns inflated QB Aaron Rodgers' numbers, as his 294 yards passing against Dallas were the most he's had all season.

Bucs promote Donteea Dye to replace the injured Jackson

Fantasy Impact: Dye takes the roster spot of WR Vincent Jackson, who was placed on IR. He actually spent 10 games with Tampa Bay last season, catching 11 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. He should remain off fantasy radars for now, with slot receiver Adam Humphries (20-216-0) and TE Cameron Brate (17-197-2) likely to see more work as secondary options to WR1 Mike Evans.

Green Bay secondary looking decimated for Thursday

Fantasy Impact: Already without Sam Shields (concussion), the Packers look like they'll be down their top three cornerbacks on a short week against the Bears. Brian Hoyer has thrown for at least 300 yards in all four of his starts, and looks a good bet to do so for a fifth straight game. WR Cameron Meredith has 20 catches (on 27 targets) for 243 yards and a TD in his last two games, so he's quickly emerged as Hoyer's favorite target.
