Here are the fantasy implications following the announcement that Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy will likely miss "several weeks" with an ankle injury:

Lacy owners stand pat

Even though the Packers acquired RB Knile Davis from the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, he may not be ready to factor into Thursday night's home game. Regular backup James Starks is going to miss Week 7 and possibly more, but the Packers backfield does not offer any appealing alternatives in the interim.

Even if Davis were 100 percent and getting lead back snaps, he has never been showcased as a top RB and has had middling results at best. He has one carry for negative-two yards in four games this season. Instead of panicking, Lacy owners in season-long formats should stay the course.

This is assuming owners already have other running backs ready to be slotted in to replace Lacy. If not, you'll need to run to the waiver wire. Davis can be added, but don't expect him to make an impact on Thursday night considering he isn't familiar with the offense.

Ty Montgomery is your Hail Mary FLEX option

Montgomery made the most of his first receptions of the season in Week 6, making 10 catches on 12 targets for 98 yards. He's not widely rostered, so if Lacy's injury creates a hole at FLEX, Montgomery can fill that void. For those playing daily fantasy with Thursday's game, Montgomery won't cost much.

Another element to Montgomery's game is his sporadic involvement in the running attack. He rushed three times on Sunday for a paltry six yards, but that was with Lacy playing. Without Lacy, and with Davis unlikely to be much of a factor, Montgomery could benefit.

Chris Ivory leads the waiver wire

  • RB Chris Ivory, Jacksonville Jaguars: Ivory has missed time through the season, but has been getting more touches, and finally reached the end zone in Week 6. His Week 7 opponent, the Oakland Raiders, have allowed 132.2 rushing yards per game. Since he didn't have a massive game, it's unlikely top waiver priority will be needed to snag him.
  • RB Jay Ajayi, Miami Dolphins: Due to his 200-yard, two-TD performance in Week 6 - a feat Ajayi will never repeat - he will be a hot commodity. Those with a top three waiver priority will have the best chances at grabbing him, but he's also a big bust candidate since he blew away his season totals in a single game.
  • RB Justin Forsett, Detroit Lions: Anyone considering Knile Davis should see if Forsett is on the wire first. Forsett is in a similar situation, on a new team with an injured backfield. The difference is thatForsett has actually played and received an ample amount of touches this season. It's far from ideal, but he's in a better situation to return value right now.
