Watch: Gonzalez silences Wrigley with 2nd-inning homer

Jerry Lai / USA TODAY Sports

They came to party at Wrigley Field. Adrian Gonzalez was in no such mood.

The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman silenced the packed ballpark when he led off the second inning of NLCS Game 2 with a solo homer off Chicago Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks to left-center field.

It ended up being all the Dodgers needed, as ace Clayton Kershaw tossed seven shutout innings to make Gonzalez's blast stand up as the game-winning run in a 1-0 Dodgers victory, tying the best-of-seven series at ones.

Gonzalez, who tied Game 1 with a two-run single in the eighth inning off Aroldis Chapman, simply loves hitting at Wrigley Field. Over his 13-year career the 34-year-old has hit .285/.355/.569 with 10 homers and seven doubles at the 102-year-old stadium.

The homer had to shock the Cubs, given how their starter has enjoyed pitching in the Friendly Confines this season. Hendricks, who led baseball with a 2.13 ERA, allowed just four regular-season homers at Wrigley.
