UCLA's Rosen dressed but not starting vs. Washington State

UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen didn't start Saturday against Washington State, but he was on the sidelines wearing a headset, according to multiple reports.

Rosen left the game twice in last week's loss to Arizona State, first with a leg injury and then with a shoulder problem after being sacked.

Coach Jim Mora said after the loss that Rosen had taken some horrible hits throughout the season and didn't take any snaps at practice this week.

"He's a competitive guy, and he wants to play," Mora said. "We just have to make sure that we make the right decision, not only short term, but long term for him."

With his sophomore signal-caller out versus the Cougars, the Bruins will turn the job over to Mike Fafaul, who replaced Rosen last week. Fafaul completed just 3-of-11 attempts for 57 yards and was intercepted twice against the Sun Devils.

"It's always harder when a backup has to go in a game during the game because he hasn't gotten as many reps," Mora said of Fafaul's performance.
