Rockets' Onuaku: Nobody's been 'man enough' to shoot underhanded FTs
Chinanu Onuaku believes he's the only NBA player who has the guts to shoot foul shots underhanded.
The Houston Rockets rookie made headlines after hitting both his free throws using the unorthodox technique Wednesday against the New Orleans Pelicans in China.
He contends that the reason shooting free throws "granny style" isn't more common is because everyone else is too worried about what other people think.
"When I went to Greece I had a bunch of buzz about it," he told Calvin Watkins of ESPN. "Then I knew I'd get some buzz about it (in China) because everybody has been talking about it lately. Nobody has been man enough to do it."
The 37th overall selection adopted the form late in his rookie season at Louisville, when he shot 46.7 percent at the charity stripe. As a sophomore in 2015-16, his free-throw accuracy improved to 59 percent.
