Report: Mousasi claims McGregor threatened him with knife in message

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Gegard Mousasi put everyone on blast following his impressive win over Vitor Belfort at UFC 204.

One of his targets, Conor McGregor, apparently took issue with the comments, and, according to Mousasi, messaged him privately, making threats with a knife.

"People liked it," Mousasi told Tony Reid of FLoCombat. "I just spoke the truth. Sometimes you have to say stupid sh-t before people notice you. I got a private message from Conor McGregor. He was cursing at me, the little f--k. He was threatening me. I said, 'What are you going to do with your 50 kilos?' The f----r was threatening me with a knife. He knows I could beat his ass any day."

While Mousasi doesn't seem too concerned about the alleged threat, it's a fairly serious issue for a man that was just fined $150,000 by the Nevada Athletic Commission over a bottle-throwing incident with Nate Diaz during a press conference leading up to UFC 202.

The usually reserved Mousasi also admitted he may have gone a tad overboard in his rant against McGregor in the first place.

"I said some stuff that I didn't mean," Mousasi said. "I said 'People don't know who the real fighter is or not.' Of course he's a top fighter. English is not my first language and I just blurt stuff out sometimes. I thought it was funny that he was messaging me."
