Greg Olsen predicted Panthers could start 1-4 in July
Not many would have predicted the Carolina Panthers to start off 1-4 after their stellar performance, but Greg Olsen did.
Back in July, the Panthers tight end told Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer that if the team wasn't careful about avoiding a Super Bowl hangover they could "find ourselves 1-4 asking, 'What's going on?'"
The Pro Bowler said at the time that he didn't believe it would happen because the Panthers had identified how they were going to avoid it, but clearly that didn't happen.
"From a human instinct perspective, you kind of rest on your laurels," said Olsen.
"We’ve identified that from Day One. ... We’re going to build that platform. If we are not willing to do those things - and we think we are just going to show up Week 1 and rattle off 14 wins in a row like we did last year just because we’re the same guys in the same uniforms - we’re going to find ourselves in a bad spot. That’s just not the way this league works."
Clearly, Olsen doesn't believe in jinxes.
