She's back.

Appearing on "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Ronda Rousey will return from a one-year hiatus to challenge women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 on Dec. 30 in Las Vegas.

The bout was confirmed on UFC.com shortly after, and the champ herself took to Instagram to share the first official promotional image for the event:

Rousey has not appeared in the Octagon since last November, when she suffered the first loss of her career at the hands of Holly Holm. "The Preacher's Daughter" knocked Rousey out in the second round of the UFC 193 main event to become the women's bantamweight champion.

Prior to that setback, Rousey was one of the sport's most dominant champions. She began her UFC career with six straight title defenses (after her Strikeforce championship was essentially promoted to the UFC championship), all but one coming by first-round finish. During this dominant stretch, she broke into the mainstream with several film and television roles.

Rousey's jaw was broken in the Holm fight and she admitted to having suicidal thoughts following that defeat. Her return to the Octagon was pushed back further as she recovered from a knee surgery in June. In her absence, none of her peers managed to log a successful title defense.

Holm was submitted by Miesha Tate at UFC 196, and Tate would then drop the title to Nunes four months later, also by submission.

UFC 207 will mark Nunes' first title defense. She has won her past four fights, including the first-round finish of Tate that won her the championship in the main event of UFC 200 this past July.

Should Rousey defeat Nunes, she would not only become the first two-time women's champion in UFC history, but White said that she will "definitely" fight longtime rival Cris Cyborg next.
