Christian Ehrhoff is looking to land a new contract in Boston Bruins training camp.

The veteran defenseman is following up a World Cup appearance with a professional tryout with the Bruins, as previously reported.

"He’s a good-sized defenseman, skates well and moves the puck well. What I liked about him, and I told (management) that, was that his compete level was pretty good," head coach Claude Julien, who saw Ehrhoff play in the two final games against Team Canada at the World Cup, said Monday per Joe Haggerty of CSNNE. "If he comes here and competes the same way then he’s somebody that could make things interesting for us.

"I really felt that he was a good addition to our group trying to make the team on a PTO, and we’ll see where we go from there. He’s certainly deserving of coming here, and if he plays the way he did (at the World Cup) then there’s a chance he’s going to make our back end better."

The Bruins already have seven defensemen under contract with a couple prospects still in camp, meaning there may need to be some maneuvering if the team decides to offer Ehrhoff a deal for the upcoming season.

Ehrhoff split last season between Los Angeles and Chicago, recording two goals and 10 assists in 48 games.
