Recapping the Sixers' recent injury history

The Philadelphia 76ers just can't catch a break.

For the fifth year in a row, the Sixers will likely be without one of their talented big men to start the season with Ben Simmons set to miss a chunk of time after fracturing his foot during a team scrimmage.

While things could still go well for the Philadelphia this year, it doesn't look good, especially given the team's recent history with injuries.

2012 - Andrew Bynum

Andrew Bynum failed to suit up for a single game for the Sixers after coming over from Los Angeles in a four-team trade, suffering a series of setbacks during his lone season in Philadelphia.

To make matters worse, Philadelphia were forced to give up three solid players in order to land Bynum, surrendering Andre Iguodala, Nikola Vucevic, and Moe Harkless in the deal.

2013 - Nerlens Noel

Sam Hinkie showed early into his tenure that he wasn't afraid to take a risk, trading All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday for the draft rights to Nerlens Noel in his first major move as general manager.

Noel would go on to miss the entire 2013-14 campaign recovering from a torn ACL, as the Sixers went on to win just 19 games without him.

2014 - Joel Embiid

For the second year in a row, Hinkie chose to take a major gamble on a young big man, drafting Joel Embiid with the No. 3 pick just weeks after he suffered a fractured foot.

The move failed to pay dividends in the early going, as Embiid missed the entire season recovering from the injury.

2015 - Joel Embiid (again)

Embiid's NBA debut was delayed a second season after undergoing another surgery on his foot in 2015.

The 7-footer appears to be finally healthy with the Sixers' season just weeks away, and is set to make his NBA debut approximately 28 months after being drafted.

2016 - Ben Simmons

Sixers fans were dealt another crushing blow on Friday after discovering that Simmons had suffered a fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot.

Philadelphia has yet to announce a timetable on the young phenom, but it's hard to imagine many fans are remaining optimistic at this point.
