Manager: 'Bigfoot' could fight in Japan, Russia if cut by UFC

Jason Silva / USA TODAY

It could be a while before there's another "Bigfoot" sighting in North America.

Antonio Silva was knocked out by Roy Nelson in Brazil this past Saturday, the seventh time he has lost by KO in the UFC. With only one win in his last eight bouts, the writing is on the wall for Silva, something that his manager Alex Davis is painfully aware of.

"I think Bigfoot will probably be out of the UFC and probably go to Rizin (FF) or Russia," Davis told MMAjunkie.

Shortly after joining the UFC in 2012, the veteran heavyweight established himself as a top-10 contender with wins over Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem. He challenged Cain Velasquez for the heavyweight championship, but was finished by strikes in 81 seconds. That was the beginning of the downward trend that Silva has been unable to shake thus far.

Silva has competed strictly on the UFC's overseas cards since December 2013, including bouts in Brazil, Australia, and the Netherlands. He has fought in Japan several times before his UFC days, so that country's Rizin promotion could be a logical next step for him should he look to continue his MMA career.
