Westbrook racks up 5th triple-double to match rest of NBA combined

Russell Westbrook was far from his best in a disappointing home loss to the Paul George-less Indiana Pacers on Sunday, but that didn't stop the five-time All-Star guard from recording another memorable stat line.

Though he shot 13-of-34 from the field and turned the ball over seven times in the Thunder's 115-111 loss, Westbrook poured in 31 points, 15 assists, and 11 rebounds - made more impressive by the fact that he entered halftime without a single board to his name.

Westbrook's second straight triple-double was his fifth of the season, giving him the same number as the rest of the league, combined.

Sunday also marked the third time already in 2016-17 that Westbrook recorded at least 30 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds in a game. In the previous 33 seasons, no player managed that more than twice in one season, and the Association once went nearly 12 years (January 1996-November 2007) without a single such performance.

Through 14 games, Westbrook is now averaging 31.6 points, 10.4 assists, and 9.7 rebounds as he continues his bid to be the first player since Oscar Robertson 55 years ago to average a triple-double over an entire season.
