Gase warns Dolphins players: Do your job or get benched

The Miami Dolphins may have come away with their first win over the weekend, but needing overtime to finish off the lowly Cleveland Browns didn't exactly make for the most inspiring of efforts.

As the team continues to struggle at a number of positions throughout the roster, head coach Adam Gase has informed his players that starting spots are on the line.

"I'm over discussing any of this stuff with players," Gase said Monday, according to Adam H. Beasley of The Miami Herald. "We're either going to start getting the job done, or we're going to make changes."

"... We just want guys to do it right. Whoever wants to do it right, those are the guys that we’re going to put out there. Talent’s irrelevant at this point."

Though such a statement would have the potential to seem premature just three games into a long 16-game season, several prominent players are right there with their head coach.

Wide receiver Jarvis Landry told NFL Network's Tiffany Blackmon that it was a message that needed to be sent.

"I think so just in the grad scheme of things and how we want thing to go and how things have been, and just trying to change the culture," Landry said Tuesday. "You know he's been trying to do that since he's been here so just for him to be honest about that little details you know they do make a big difference in the game."

The Dolphins have a short week of preparation before looking to even up their record at 2-2 in a road matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.
