Ex-NFLer Hardy: Someone must have put cocaine into my wallet
Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy was arrested Sunday for possession of a controlled substance, according to NBC Dallas Fort-Worth.
Police say they found 0.7 grams of cocaine in a wallet in Hardy's car during a traffic stop.
Hardy, who last played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, claims the cocaine isn't his. And his explanation for how it got into his wallet is creative, if not entirely believable.
According to the police report, Hardy said someone must have put the cocaine into his wallet without him realizing it.
Hardy told an officer he passed his wallet around at a party the night before his arrest because he was paying for everyone in attendance, adding that someone at the party must have stashed the cocaine in his wallet.
Why someone would do that remains unclear. Hardy remained in custody Monday with bond set at $5,000. Whether he spends more time behind bars could depend on if he can get a judge to believe his story about his wallet.
