Marian Gaborik has a foot injury that's ended his World Cup, according to Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos.

The severity of the injury, which occurred Sunday, makes it "unlikely" that Gaborik will be ready to begin the NHL season when the Los Angeles Kings open their campaign on Oct. 12.

Gaborik has two goals in four games at the tournament in Toronto. He had 12 goals and 10 assists in 54 games last season with L.A.

Earlier Monday, Europe head coach Ralph Krueger confirmed that Gaborik is dealing with a lower-body injury, but said a diagnosis was still to come.

It was also reported that Gaborik left the Air Canada Centre on crutches with his foot in a cast, by Sportsnet's Matt Brown.
