Watch: Morris gives Sounders playoff hope with 2nd-half brace

Major League Soccer rookie Jordan Morris is doing everything he can to lift the Seattle Sounders into the playoffs.

The American forward scored his 11th and 12th goals of the season Sunday against the LA Galaxy to continue Seattle's push for the postseason.

Bruce Arena's side had a chance to book a playoff spot with a win over its west coast nemesis, but that evaporated quickly in the second half.

Morris broke a 1-1 deadlock at the StubHub Centre - where Seattle hadn't won in seven years - with a roaring run past Galaxy defender Daniel Steres. Minutes later, the 21-year-old jumped on a chaotic sequence in the box to record his second tally.

Teammate Osvaldo Alonso then ripped a thunderbolt of a shot into the far corner to finalize a 4-2 victory, after Robbie Keane scored an inconsequential penalty to make the score line a little closer.

Seattle is now four points behind the Portland Timbers in the race for the final playoff berth.

Morris has rejuvenated once-faint playoff hopes during a breakout campaign. With six game-winning goals this season, he has set a new MLS rookie record.
