New York Giants center Weston Richburg was contrite after becoming the first player to be ejected for two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the team's 29-27 loss.

The new rule, implemented following the 2015 season, forced Richburg to be sent off after hitting Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman after the whistle.

"I let my teammates down. I have to be a presence in there and be a leader and I let my team down," Richburg said during his postgame press conference.

"It is an emotional game. Big things happen, big plays and, like I said, I have to be that consistent presence in there and be a leader, and today I let my offensive line down and my team down," he added.
