Mikel John Obi could be the next Premier League export to make the switch to Major League Soccer.

The Nigerian midfielder confirmed he will enter discussions with other clubs over a possible move away from Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window, according to Jefferson Lake from Sky Sports.

"When you have a year left, in January you are allowed to talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract or have an agreement so, yes, I will talk to other clubs because you never know what is going to happen," Mikel said.

"If it is going to be the Premier League there will be options. If it is China or some other places, we will see. One thing is for sure, I will make the best decision.

Mikel also revealed he's open to a move across the pond, reports Nizaar Kinsella of Goal, and would prefer to link up with former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard, who joined New York City FC in 2015.

"I am happy that he is back to his best, doing what he loves to do and, one day, who knows, I may go over there and play with him, or play against him,"

A move would end Mikel's 11-year association with Chelsea. During that time, he's helped the team win three Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and several other honours.
