Here are the fantasy repercussions following the news that Buccaneers RB Doug Martin is expected to miss three weeks with a hamstring injury:

The obvious move here for owners of Martin, or owners in need of a running back (in other words, everybody), is to add Bucs backup tailback Charles Sims. However, with Sims having had success as Tampa's change-of-pace back last season (529 rushing yards, 561 receiving yards) you can expect that he was drafted as a handcuff by someone in your league.

Sims should be featured as an every-down back with Martin out. But Tampa's schedule over the next three games isn't all that inviting for a running back. The Bucs have a Week 3 home date with the Rams, who boast one of the league's best front sevens. They will then host the defending Super Bowl champs, the Denver Broncos, in Week 4 and then head to Carolina in Week 5.

Despite the tough matchups ahead, Sims can still be started if you are short on RB options. Even if Tampa struggles to get the running game going, Sims will be heavily involved in the passing game, giving him a high floor. He is especially valuable in PPR leagues.

Even if Martin's hamstring injury lingers, the Bucs have a bye in Week 6, so he should be back for Week 7 against the 49ers.

Martin's absence will no doubt change the offense, but it shouldn't change the way you value QB Jameis Winston or WR Mike Evans. The Bucs will likely go to the air more without Martin, but Winston is still not worth starting against Denver or Carolina. Evans' targets will likely see a slight uptick. His great size essentially makes him matchup-proof at this point.

If Sims is already owned in your league, here are a few players to target on the waiver wire:

  • RB Dwayne Washington, Lions: With Ameer Abdullah heading to the IR, expect the rookie Washington to see the majority of work on first and second downs. Theo Riddick will still handle third-down duties. Detroit has a tough matchup in Green Bay in Week 3, but will then head to Chicago to face a weak Bears defense.
  • RB Matt Asiata, Vikings: Jerick McKinnon may be the more popular add with Adrian Peterson out, but Asiata will be receiving goal-line work, providing a much higher ceiling. When Peterson missed the 2014 season, Asiata had 882 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns in 15 games.
