Report: Sixers' Embiid not expected to play in back-to-backs
The Philadelphia 76ers are being careful not to rush Joel Embiid into heavy action in the upcoming season.
The 2014 first-rounder isn't expected to play in back-to-backs and will be on a minutes restriction to begin the 2016-17 campaign, according to Keith Pompey of Philadelphia Inquirer. Embiid could start against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the team's season opener, but the Sixers won't know until they consult with medical staff.
After being chosen with the third overall pick two years ago, Embiid has yet to play an NBA game after undergoing multiple foot surgeries.
Sixers fans are already counting the days until next month's opener, when Embiid, along with fellow rookies Ben Simmons and Dario Saric are expected to make their highly anticipated NBA debuts.
